Lawrence Rosen is the previous owner and Chairman of Rose Art Industries, and he and the management team are very excited to be back working in the toy and stationery industries and truly believe that CRA-Z-ART® will be a major category innovator for many years to come.
 Family Business Takes Root: 1923-80s
In 1923 in Bronx, NY, Isidor Rosen founded a small business called Rosebud Art Company that printed and produced coloring books. During the 1930s, the company changed its product offering to focus on games and puzzles. Two decades after its founding, Isidor’s sons Irving and Sydney took over Rosebud Art Company, and it was during their tenure that products were diversified to include novelties, American flags, and art and school supplies.
By the late 1970s, the company's name changed to Rose Art Industries to better reflect the growing diversity of the company. In 1978 the third generation of the Rosen family, Sydney's sons Jeffrey and Lawrence, became active in the company. Rose Art focused on the manufacture of arts and crafts supplies, including crayons, paints, and chalks, and that year annual sales reached $850,000.
Acquisitions and Licensing in the 1990s
 Rosen brothers Jeffrey and Lawrence bought Rose Art in the early 1990s. With Larry as President and CEO and Jeff as COO, the brothers continued the entrepreneurial spirit of the company by developing a growth strategy based on acquisitions and new product development. Rose Art president Larry Rosen noted in the New Jersey newspaper business section, that the company would continue to grow by "acquisitions, creativity and innovation."
Re-entry into the Toy and Stationery Business
After exiting the toy business in 2006, Lawrence took time to work in the fundraising and candy industry. But the Toy and Stationery business was always his passion, so in late 2008 he set out to establish another family run toy business, Cra-Z-Art®. Based in Randolph, NJ. Cra-Z-Art® is picking up where Larry left off by quickly establishing a complete line of art, toy and stationery products for the whole family. Cra-Z-Art® has already licensed the Elvis Presley, Thomas Kinkade, Bakugan and Lassen brands and is continuing to build out it’s stable of highly recognized brands.
